The Utrecht University School of Governance Accountability Research Tradition
There is no accountability sect in Utrecht, of course. It’s just a little (and not necessarily funny) joke I sometimes make during talks and lectures. But it expresses something of great relevance: our enduring research focus on a specific, highly prevalent and vital aspect of democratic governance. The calibrating public accountability project is innovative in terms of focus, methods and theories. However, it also crucially builds on earlier work. This page displays a selection of some of the important earlier studies of public accountability at the Utrecht University School of Governance.
